About Lieut. Elias Earl Udall
Lieutenant Elias Earl Udall served in the U.S. Navy from January 19, 1943, to August 21, 1946. He was the second son of John Hunt Udall and his second wife, Leah Smith Udall. His older brother, King Smith Udall, was killed while in the service of the U.S. Army when he was just 26 years old and was struck by lightning at a military base in Texas.
In a 1956 U.S. City Directory listing for Provo, Utah, Earl and his wife, Naomi T., were living at 44 E. 700 North, and he was working as the City Manager. Earl's brother, Samuel H., and his wife, Helen D., were living at 763 E. 820 North, and he was a student and she was a public school teacher. In 1958 Earl and Naomi were living at 650 Willow Lane in Provo, and Earl was still working as the City Manager
In both a 1966 and a 1967 U.S. City Directory listings for Atwater, Merced County, California, Earl and Naomi were living at 2809 Tenaya Drive, and Earl was working as the Merced City Manager. A Mr. Marc R. Udall was living at 1725 Reba Way and was working as a LDS Church Missionary, and a Dr. Addison R., Udall and wife, Ada W., was working as a physician, and they were living at the same address on Reba Way. Addison and Ada must have been Marc's parents, but I'm not sure if they were related to Earl, or how they may have been related.
Earl passed away at the relatively young age of just 51 years old on December 10, 1970, and at the time he was living in Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York. However, he was buried in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah.
