About Lieutenant Allan Whitlock Nicholl Roderick
ALLAN WHITLOCK NICHOLL BUCKLEY RODERICK was the third son of William Buckley Roderick, Solicitor, of Goodig, Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, and of Ella Augusta his wife.
He entered the School in 1910 and left in 1912.
Immediately on the outbreak of War in 1914 he joined the Welsh Regiment and was promoted Lieutenant in July, 1915. He went out to Gallipoli with his Battalion, and took part in the Landing at Suvla Bay in August of that year.
He was reported "Wounded and Missing," after leading his men in the attack which followed on the left of Chocolate Hill, and later was presumed to have been killed there on August 9th, 19I5. Age 19. Reports from those who served with him were unanimous in their appreciation of his bravery and his care for the welfare of his men.
His eldest brother, Captain Hume Buckley Roderick (O.R.), Welsh Guards, was killed on December 1st, 1917, and the fourth brother, Lieutenant John Victor Tweed Buckley Roderick (O.R.), Coldstream Guards, fell on August 21st, 1918.
