• Held the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta.
• Educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.
• Educated between 1889 and 1894 at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.
• Director-General of the territorial Army between 1933 and 1936.
• Invested as a Knight in 1935.
• Held the office of Aide-de-Camp General to HM King George VI between 1938 and 1941.
• Invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1941.
