About Lt.-Col. Herbert Arthur McDougall
Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert McDougall, belonged to the family that founded McDougall's Flour and at the age of 16 had joined the Honourable Artillery Company to fight in the Boer War. Subsequently, he became a regular soldier and joined the 3rd King's Own Hussars. During the Great War he served with the 9th Scottish Division and during the Second World War commanded the Natal Mounted Rifles in South Africa.
