About Lieutenant-Colonel Reginald Thorsby Gwyn

second son of Richard Gwyn by his second wife, Elizabeth Preston. Born 9th November, 1838. Entered the Army (4th King’s Own Royals) 12th November, 1856; promoted Lieutenant 1863; Captain 1869; half pay 1880; retired with honorary rank of Lt. Colonel 1881. Was Adjutant of the 4th Norfolk Volunteers, 1879-82. Appointed Chief Constable of Bath which post he held till 1900. His first wife was Sophia H[enrietta] [d. 1870], daughter and sole heir of Isaac Jermy Jermy of Stanfield Hall, Norfolk. Married 25 February, 1869.
