Biography
Samuel was born in 1718.[1] Samuel was the son of William & Hannah (Bryant) Larned. Note: In a previous post this surname was spelled Learned, howeber, the CT birth, marriage and death records mentioned actually show it as Larned as did the 1912 hisotyr of Central NY and the spelling used by decedent Anna Larned Hancock.
Samuel married Rachel Green 29 Dec 1741 in Thompson, Windham, CT - parents of Daniel, Henry, William, Hannah, a second William, Benjamin, Hannah, Samuel II, Rachel & Esther.
From the 1912 Genealogical and family history of central New York[2]
Samuel, son of William Larned, was born December 28, 1718, baptized May 31, 1719. He was lieutenant in the French and Indian war, and was in the Sixth Company of the Third Regiment, Eliphalet Dyer, colonel, Israel Putnam, major, Dr. David Holmes, captain. In 1743 he is called husbandman. He was admitted to full communion. May 3, 1747. He died February 5, 1770, and was buried in the old Killingly graveyard.
He married, December 29, 1741. Rachel Green, of Thompson, born before 1725, daughter of Henry and Judith (Guile) Green. She married (second), December 19, 1781, John Haskill, of Dudley, Massachusetts. She died April 27. 1819.
Children : Daniel, born November 16, 1743; Henry, April 13, 1745; William, October 19, 1747, died February I, 1750: Hannah, September 2. 1750, died July 3, 1751 ; William, .'Kpril i, 1752; Benjamin, mentioned below; Hannah, September 4, 1756; Esther, August 28, 1760; Samuel, February 12, 1763; Rachel, December 14, 1765.
