Stephen served in the siege of Louisbourg (1745), and was a volunteer with his brother, William, and forty others to attack the Island Battery under Capt. Daniel Bacon. (Hopkins, Timothy. The Kelloggs in the Old World and the New (Sunset Press, 1903), page 122)(See Bacon letter in media).
Stephen was a commissioned Lieutenant in the Berkshire Co. Militia, Capt. Robert Joyner's Co., Col. William Williams' Reg., Jan 1764.
