About Lillian May Hicks
EXETER - Lillian May Hicks, 91, the wife of the late George Elwell Hicks, Sr., died Nov. 24, 2016, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Exeter, the daughter of Fred and Jessie A. (Strout) Batchelder. She attended Exeter schools. She loved gardening, and with her husband, owned and operated the G. E. Hicks Dairy farm. She is survived by two daughters, Freda Sanborn and her friend, Richard Smith of Exeter and Sharon Crawford and her husband, Robert of Hermon; two sons, Elwell Jr. and his wife, Cynthia and Terry and his wife, Julie, both of Corinth; 11 grandchildren, LeAnn, Michelle, Sandy, Sherry, Bobby, Tony, Brooks, Blaine, Heidi, Carrie and Sarah; several great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite Tate and two brothers, Clifford and Dennis Batchelder. There will be a graveside memorial service 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth, with Pastor John Robbins officiating. Arrangements are in care of the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the farm after the service. The family extends their thanks to the St. Joseph Hospital Staff for their kindness, support and caring during a difficult time.
