About Lillian Myria O'Neal
The funeral of Mrs. Samuel Oneal, who died at her home in this city last Saturday was held at the U.B. church on Monday afternoon at 2:30, the services being in charge of Rev. E.R. McCorkle. Burial was in the Gibson cemetery.
Lillian M. Isgrigg was born March 16, 1857 in Minnesota and died at her home in Gibson City, Ill., Aug. 18, 1923, age 66 years, 5 months and 8 days. She came to this state at the age of 4 years leaving Minnesota in the fall and escaping an Indian massacre in the following spring.
Her parents settled near Heyworth later moved to Bloomington, where she became acquainted with Samuel O'Neal, with whom she was united in marriage at Clinton, Nov. 25, 1875. They lived near Leroy until 15 years ago, when they moved near Gibson City, where they lived for three years. For the past eleven years they had lived in Gibson City.
To this happy union were born eleven children, two of whom, Arthur Carl and William Ervin died in infancy. The living are Lee Oneal and Mrs. Alma Crowe of Paxton, Mrs. Bessie Brittin of Leroy; Mrs. Lulu Caryer, Mrs. Viola Parker, Wayne, Lawrence, Lester and Ivor of Gibson City. Besides these children she leaves to mourn her loss her husband, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
At an early age she joined the Christian church, but was a member of the United Brethren church at the time of her death. In earlier years, when she had her health, she was always ready and willing to help her neighbors and friends in trouble and sickness, with never a thought of self.
She was a woman of such a quiet and unassuming nature that only those close to her realized how sacrificing and self denying she was with a kind word for everyone and never a harsh word or thought. She was the last of a family of ten children.
Among those who attended her funeral were her niece Mrs. May Padget of Brittin Michigan, Dan Rees, Henry Oneal & wife, John Oneal & wife, Ralph McDonnton & wife, Estella Carlyse and son, Mrs. Luella Reynolds and daughters, Roy Oneal, Mrs. Bertha Oneal, all of Leroy, Carl Lawson and family of Heyworth, Frank Hall and wife and Eleaser Oneal of Chenoa besides the many relatives and friends near home.* Reference: [https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/74047321/lillian-myria-o'neal Find A Grave Memorial] - [https://www.geni.com/projects/SmartCopy/18783 SmartCopy]: ''Aug 4 2021, 1:53:57 UTC''
