About Lina Nussbaum
Information from Donald J. Isler: Lina was a strong and determined woman. She largely took over running the family business in Hammelburg as her husband lost his eyesight. Came to America with him via Japan. Got a visa for Mexico that got them in there while waiting to get into the US because he had experience with vineyards, which the Mexicans were then developing.
Further Information from Donald Isler: There were TWO families of Sichels. One was the family of Anna, Lina , Maja and Meta. The other Sichel family was that of Maja and Meta's mother-in-law, Pauline Nussbaum, nee Sichel. It was coincidental that Maja and Meta had the same maiden name as their mother-in-law because these two Sichel families were not related to each other. But, interestingly, Pauline and her husband, Simon Nussbaum, were also first cousins, as well as husband and wife, because her mother, Babette Sichel, nee Nussbaum, was the sister of Simon's father, Hirsch Hermann Nussbaum.
