About Lincoln Abraham Chayes
U of Illinois alumnus; grad 1942. According to the stories, of a friend of his when they were young men in Chicago, Lincoln was quite a musician. When they went to blues clubs, he would play the piano, and when Billie Holiday was singing she would ask him to play. The story about his death is that he could not believe that kamikazes were actually suicidal, and when he was on a ship and one was coming, he stayed on deck to see.
