About Lloyd Alvin Helm
Lloyd and Maude Helm were among a group of U.S. citizens recruited by the Mexican government to locate in Chamal, Old Mexico in approximately 1910. They were there with great "frontier-type" hardships where they had 3 of their 5 children. In about 1917-1918, Poncho Villa headed a group of revolutionary forces who threatened the U.S. settlers and told them they had twenty-four hours to leave. The Helm family loaded their three young children and moved to Oklahoma. All the children had to renounce their Mexican citizenship in order to retain their U.S. cititizenship.
