About Lloyd Robert BOWEN

As written by his sister, Ferne Bowen White: Lloyd was born on a farm 2 miles east of Rockford to James Louis and Pearl (Pickett) Bowen. The family moved into town in 1911, and in 1913 to Marshalltown, Iowa, where they lived until 1919. They then moved back to the Rockford area, settling ona farm two miles west of Rockford. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1926, taught in a country school, and later attended a Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. In 1935 he left for the west coast, where he lived for the rest of his life. Lloyd was a loving and faithful husband. He had a great sense of humor. Obituary Lloyd Bowen Lloyd Robert Bowen, who delivered eggs, milk and bakery products throughout Kitsap County for many years, died Saturday at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years of age, and lived at 3226 Robin Ave., Bremerton, WA. Mr. Bowen was born Oct. 17, 1907, in Rockford, Iowa, where he was reared. Following his education, he moved to Bainbridge Island. During the Depression, he began a home delivery egg business covering Bainbridge Island and Seattle. He later delivered bakery products for the Golden Rule Bakery in Bremerton. Ultimately, he began his own Independent Bakery Delivery Service, which he ran until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 227. He had married the former Elinor C. Hoskinson in 1939. Survivors include his wife and two sisters, Ferne White of Osage, Iowa, and Esther Kock of Rockford, Iowa. Graveside interment services will be at Hillcrest Cemetery on Bainbridge Island, the date to be announced later. Arrangements are by Owyen Funeral Home.
