About Lola Isabelle Harris

Lola Isabelle Harris , Nee Dixon was an accomplished pianist. She began playing piano by ear at the age of 4. Her father Joseph Dixon bought her that piano then.

Lola played ...Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag, when Uncle Andy (Aunt Lilly's Husband went off to the 1st. World War )..Lola was 4 years old then and played it beautifully on the piano.

Lola was the last child of Augusta Belle Dixon and Joseph Dixon. She was an after thought by 13 years. There was 13 years difference in her age and he siblings.

Lola had two sisters (Aunt Ethel, and Aunt Lilly), also Lola had a brother (Uncle Bill).

Lola did not marry until she was 37 years old, she married Alfred John Harris, they met at a New Years Eve party, but did not date until a year later.

Apparently Lola already knew some of John's brothers and sisters but did not know John.

Lola loved playing her piano and did so all her life long.

My mother (Lola) loved to play a polka while my father and I danced through the living room and dinning room / kitchen, I on my dad's feet.

Lola loved a good joke and would tell many a good story. She loved company and good friends. Her family were always close to her and she appreciated that.

Lola began working at Sandwell Fuels in Hamilton (her girlfriend- Viola Sandwell) hired her while her husband was unable to work with several heart attacks.

Lola loved to dress up for Halloween, and loved a good party with lots of chatter.

Lola would have New Year Eve's parties that would last till the early morning, when we would make breakfast at 7:00 AM for everyone......no one slept ....not on New Years Eve.

Lots of Music, lots of good family and friends, lots of laughs.

Lola loved music and could go to a concert and play the whole concert note for note when she returned home. She had a wonderful gift and she used it well.

She loved to play cards and enjoyed picnics with the family and also going to my aunt and uncles cottages in the summer months.

Lola's grandmother was from Scotland, her grandmother came to New York when she was 17 years old.

Her grandmother at age 17 went to Central Park NY and sat upon a part bench where a gentleman joined her. While they conversed she found out that she was talking to her uncle who had ventured out to New York several years earlier. Time and Fate!

Lola has a little French in her blood - from ancestory the Dupuis, and also some Welsh blood, but primarily Scottish blood.

Lola loved life and said that she just wanted to stay a while longer just to see what happens next.
