About Lord Gilbert de Segrave
Gilbert, 1st Baron Segrave, was born before 1145.
He held the fourth part of one knight's fee of William de Newburgh, Earl of Warwick, in 1165/66.
Gilbert was surnamed for the lordship he held at Seagrave, Leicestershire, England.
Gilbert was sheriff, with Reginald Basset, for the counties of Warwick and Leicester, under Hugh de Novant, bishop of Coventry, between 1192 and 1194. He gave 400 marks to the King toward the support of his wars in 1198/99.
