He married JOAN UNKNOWN Abt. 1525 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. She was born 1499 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, and died Abt. 1530 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England.

Notes for RICHARD CARTER:

Richard Carter of lord of the manor of Garston in Hertsford, an estate he received as a grant from the Crown on July 24, 1544, "to Richard Carter and Thomas Palmer and the heirs of the said Richard.." He sold one moiety of this estate to John and Agnes Randall, who, in turn, sold it to Michael and Margaret Sager of Marsworth, Buckinghamshire. Richard Carter bought that portion back from the Sagers.

In 1546 Richard Carter received a coat of arms. Richard King Carter of Colonial Virginia used arms containing "the wheels of Catherine," derived from his ancestor's arms.

• JOHN CARTER, b. 1529, Hertfordshire, England; d. 1559; married 1549 Agnes Edlyn. Three sons known.
