About Lorena (Smith-Matile) Smith
WELLSVILLE GLOBE Feb. 14, 1957
Funeral Service to be Held Friday for Homer Matile.
The community was shocked and saddened Wednesday morning by the death of Homer Matile, widely known farmer of the Pleasant Valley community, west of Wellsville. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Coughlin's chapel, with Rev. Paul Leslie, Methodist minister, in charge. Burial will be in the Wellsville cemetery.
Mr. Matile had been in poor health for a number of years, but death came unexpectedly while he slept early Wednes day morning. He had attended a farm sale the day before and enjoyed television programs during the evening, apparently feeling as well as unsual. Oscar Homer Matile, son of Mrs. Lucy Matlie, and the late Henry Matile, was born December 8, 1900 on a farm a mile west of Wellsville. For the last 20 years he has been operating the Henry Matile home farm. He was a member of the Wellsville Methodist church and the modern Woodman Lodge of LeLoup. He and his wife have also been active in Pleasant Valley community work.
On January 10, 1925 Homer was united in marriage to Miss Lorena Josephine Smith, who survives. Other immediate relatives surviving are: his mother Mrs. Lucy Matile; one brother Dayton Matile, and one sister Mrs. Roy (Marybelle) Chambers, all of Wellsville.
