About Lorenzo Gennaro

Biography Lorenzo Gennaro is born to Michelangelo Gennaro and Angela Pennino on 25 January 1828 in his parents' house near the Sant'Elena church in Corleone.[1][2][3][4] The midwife, Francesca Paola de Luca, age 24, reports his birth. His mother, Angela, is 21 (b. 1799), and his father, Michelangelo, 30 (b. 1790), is a villico.[5]

Lorenzo marries at least twice, first to Leoluchina Panepinto (born about 1836), the daughter of Vincenzo Panepinto and Rosa Tufanio, on 13 June 1852.[6][7] They have at least five children: Maria Rosa (c. 1856), Michaelangelo (c. 1861), Lucia (c. 1862), Angela (c. 1866), and Maria Antonia (c. 1874).

Maria Rosa marries Gaetano di Palermo on 2 December 1876 in Corleone.[8]

Leoluchina dies on 14 December 1879.[9][3][7]

Michaelangelo marries Giuseppa Pomilla on 26 September 1881. His mother has died by this time.[10]

Lucia marries Bernardo Colletti, son of the late Mariano Colletti and the living Antonia Puccio, on 13 September 1882.[11]

Angela, named after her paternal grandmother, marries Placido Gutera on 14 June 1886. Leoluchina has died by this time.[12]

Lorenzo, now a borgese, remarries on 19 February 1891 to Margherita Panepinto, a widow, and his first wife's first cousin. Lorenzo's father is still living: he is 93, and also a borgese. Angela has died by this time.[9]

Maria Antonia marries Salvatore Spatafora on 4 June 1894. Their marriage is impeded by consanguinity and requires dispensation by the archdiocese in Monreale, which is granted 24 April.[13]

Lorenzo dies a widower at age 74 on 2 February 1902.[2]
