On Saturday last, a party of men were fixing some timbers in the Hecla mine underground , when the wall plate slipped and fell. It was 4 P.M and one of the assistants, Antonio Mexico, an Italian, was picking up the tools when the plate fell on him fracturing his skull. He died in the hospital the same day. He was buried in the Roman Catholic burial ground on Monday.
