About Lottie Gerbert

Lottie Gerbert, 94, passed away at The Hampton Post Oak on June 14, 2011. A true BOI of Galveston, Lottie was born on October 10, 1916 to the late Joshua and Bessie Agranowitz, and was the sister of the late Aaron and Leon Agranowitz. She moved to Houston following Hurricane Ike and had been in assisted living at the Hampton's. Lottie graduated from Ball High School in 1934. She married the love of her life, Harry Gerbert, who preceded her in death. They had two children, Dr. Josh Gerbert (Barbara) who resides in San Francisco and Sonia Arlen (Billy) who resides in Houston. Lottie was retired from UTMB after twenty-seven years of service in the medical record department. Lottie was a member of Beth Jacob Synagogue where she was known as the "kugel queen' and a life member of Hadassah. She taught Sunday school for many decades and was the pianist for the congregation for many of their social events. She brought great joy to every occasion. She had fives loves in her life: her family, her faith, mah-jong, rummy q and video poker. Lottie is survived by her children, and grandchildren: David, Todd (Pam) Arlen, Scott (Lynnette) and Kristin Gerbert. Her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Alani and Bryan Arlen; Ashlynn and David Arlen; and Austin and Siena Gerbert. They will really miss her blonde brownies. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Hampton's for their outstanding love and support given to Lottie for the past 3 years. Many thanks, also, to Solari Hospice for their care and personal attention given to our Mom. Graveside services will be held at Beth Jacob Cemetery, 61st Street and Avenue T, Galveston, Texas 77551, on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Gary Druss officiating. J.
