About Louis Dantin dit La Joye

In 1752 Louis and Marguerite and their four oldest children were living at Port Toulouse on Isle Royale (Cape Breton Isle) where Louis, Sr. died shortly before the Deportation (1755-1762). Marguerite and 10 children were deported from Isle Royale in 1758 abroad La Reine d’Espagne: Gabriel, Jeanne, Louis, Barthelemy, Joseph, Marguerite, Michel, Jean, Anne, Agathe. Only Louis, Jr. and Barthelemy survive the crossing. They, along with those who died, disembarked at St. Malo, France November 17, 1758. Louis, then 15, and Barthelemy, 12, were taken to a hospital at St. Tual. By 1762, both, ages 18 and 16 respectively, were on the welfare role. Barthelemy Dantin died 1766-1767 in French Guinea, leaving Louis, Jr. the sole survivor of the first Acadian Dantin family
