Biography

Multiple Births2Louis Doiron was a son of the "original" Doiron, Jean Doiron (from France) and Jean's first wife (also from France), Marie-Anne Canol. Louis' parents met in Acadie at Pentagouet (Penobscot), Maine, where Jean had arrived as a soldier & drummer with a group of about 50 persons in 1670, followed in 1671 by Marie-Anne in a group of 30 men& women. Apparently they married at Port Royal, but didn't move theretill sometime before 1686, when they already had 6 sons & a daughter. At Port Royal, they brought the number of offspring up to 10.
Louis and his twin brother Jacques were born about 1689<ref>White, Stephen A., Patrice Gallant, and Hector-J Hébert. Dictionnaire Généalogique Des Familles Acadiennes. Moncton, N.-B.: Centre D'études Acadiennes, Université De Moncton, 1999, Print, p525.</ref> by which time, it seems, the parents had settled at Pisiquid (today's Windsor area,Nova Scotia). He married Marguerite Barriault (a surname which has an especially large number of spelling options!) on 21 November 1712 at the church of St-Charles-des-Mines, Grand Pré<ref>http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.lac_reel_c1870/565?r=0&s=5</ref> <ref>Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Record Volume 1a revised: The Registers of St. Charles aux Mines in Acadia 1707-1748; John J. Pastorek, Editor; Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge:Baton Rouge, 1999. p.21. Text:::Margueritte Barillot, widow of Denis Girouard (Nicolas Barillot and Martine Hebert, habitans de Pigiguit) m. 21 Nov. 1712 Louis Douaron (Jean Douaron, decd. and Marie Anne de Canolle) wit. {+}Jean Douaron; {O} Paul Douaron; {+} Pierre Girouar; sig. {+} Louis Douaron; {+} Marguerite Barillot (SGA-1, 47)</ref>[the church was in the immediate vicinity of the present-day historical site there]. Marguerite had been widowed by the death of her first husband, Denis Girouard, 3 years earlier. When Louis himself died, around 1727 (or possibly as late as 1734), she did not remarry, and lived at least till the time of the 1752 census by de la Roque, dying at or near Pointe-Prime (Orwell Bay area), Ile-St-Jean (PEI), where she had gone in 1750 when her sons Alexis and Jean and other members of the extended family were leaving the tensions of British rule in Acadie to resettle on the Island still held by France. In the 1752 census, Marguerite was living in the household of Alexis (and was listed as aged 58 - thus born ca. 1694)... <ref>Entered by John deRoche: Jan 22, 2012 & July 2013.</ref>
