About Louis Jules Holtzapffel
Louis Jules Holtzapffel was born in Strasbourg, Alsace. He moved to Paris where he was a painter and studied in Paris under Leon Cogniet. From 1852 he published his works like most Parisian artists, at the Salon de Paris. In 1866, the Salon de Paris jury rejected his works, and consequently he committed suicide.
