Louis Wescott Myers, II

Louis W. Myers II, a third-generation California lawyer who was a founding partner in the firm of Argue, Pearson, Harbison & Myers, has died at age 50.

Myers died Thursday of a heart attack at his Malibu home.

He was the grandson and namesake of Louis Wescott Myers, a former chief justice of California and co-founder of the prominent, century-old Los Angeles-based law firm of O’Melveny & Myers.

John C. Argue, the young Myers’ law partner, characterized him as “an outstanding real estate and business attorney who always was a forceful and effective advocate of his clients’ best interests.”

Myers graduated from Thacher School, Pomona College and University of Denver School of Law. He was an accomplished pilot, sportsman and athlete, and enjoyed activities with his family at their vacation homes in Little Bear Creek Ranch (near Merced), at Big Bear Lake and in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two young sons, Wes, 10, and Luke, 8; his parents, John W. and Lucia Myers of Beverly Hills, and a sister, Lissa Wolff of La Jolla.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1031 Bienveneda Avenue, Pacific Palisades.

The family has requested that any memorial donations be made to the Louis W. Myers St. Matthew Endowment, 1031 Bienveneda Avenue, Pacific Palisades, Calif. 90272.
