DEATH OCCURS EARLY SUNDAY AT HOME NEAR MURRAY; FUNERAL HERE TUESDAY Louis A. Nusbaumer, 80, lifelong resident of Wells County, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday at his home, two miles north and one-half mile west of Murray, following an illness of slightly more than 12 hours. Death was attributed to paralysis, Mr. Nusbaumer having been stricken at his home at noon Saturday. Born in Nottingham township, Wells county, on Mar 10, 1864, the decedent was a son of John J. and Elizabeth Warner Nusbaumer, the father having been a native of Switzerland. The greater part of his life was spent in Nottingham township, where he served over a long period of years in the office of Justice of the peace, while actively engaged in the vocation of a farmer. He established a home in recent year on the farm northwest of Murray. His first marriage was to Minnie Effinger, a daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. F. F. Effinger, of this city. Her death occurred June 23, 1894. The second marriage was to Mrs. Catherine Irey, whose death occurred Mar 16, 1917. The third marriage was to Mrs. Crytle Runyon Davis and took place Feb. 10, 1924. She survives. Surviving from the first marriage is one son, Ferd Nusbaumer, of Portland, Ore. A Step-daughter of the second marriage is Mrs. Nellie Burgess, of Wyoming, and surviving from the third marriage are two step-sons, Clifford David, of Houston, Texas, and Floyd Davis, of Angola. One grandchild and 22 step-grandchildren survive. Mr. Nusbaumer was one of a family of ten and survivors include a twin brother, Alexander Nusbaumer, of Fremont, O.; and five sisters, Mrs. William Vachon and Mrs. Sarah Dunlavy, of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Elsworth Vachon, of New Haven; and Misses Catherine and Eva Nusbaumer, of Keystone. Deceased brothers and sisters are Frank Nusbaumer, Miss Agnes Nusbaumer, Mrs. Loreta Helms, and Mrs. John Hoffer. Word was received from the twin brother that his condition of health is such that he will be unable to attend the funeral. The body was removed to the Thoma funeral home and will remain there until the time for funeral services to be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the St Joseph’s Catholic church, of which Mr. Nusbamer was a member, in charge of Rev. M. J. Keltner. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery at Montpelier. Bluffton News Banner printed Mar 13, 1944 page 1 col. 6
