- He was 20 years old; was 5-feet, 8-inches tall; had a medium forehead, gray eyes, a medium nose, mouth and chin, dark-brown hair, a full face, and a dark, freckled complexion.
- He was the editorial writer for Leslie's Weekly and the editor of Life. He also contributed to Collier's Weekly. In 1930 he received the Chevalier Legion of Honor medal from the French government.
