Obituary- Albany Democrat Herald, August 26, 2003:
"SWEET HOME - Louis Hayden Shockey, 94, of Sweet Home died Saturday at Twin Oaks Care Center in Sweet Home.
He was born in Montgomery County, Ark., to Jacob Franklin and Emily Susan (Lower) Shockey.
As a boy, he moved to Cleveland County near Lexington, Okla.
He married Lillie Mae Holsonbake in Purcel, Okla.
They later moved to Bakersfield, Calif., and then in 1947 to Sweet Home.
In 1949, he began working for the Santiam Lumber Company, now Willamette Industries. He retired in 1975.
In the early 1950s, he became a Christian and joined the First Baptist Church in Sweet Home with his wife.
When he died, Mr. Shockey was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Lebanon.
One of his hobbies was gardening. He grew many vegetables for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; sons Bob of Sweet Home, Bill of Dallas, Texas, Nigel of Mitchell and Dwain; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, with pastor Bill Shockey officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilliland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel, 1443 Long St., Sweet Home, OR 97386."
