LOUIS SULZBACHER
Among the Kansas City Jews to attract more than local recognition, and holding high political office, is Louis Sulzbacher, formerly Judge of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. He was born in the Rhenish Palatinate, receiving his education in Germany and coming to America in 1859. After spending several years in New Mexico, where he practiced law, he was appointed in 1900 Judge of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, which position he held till his resignation in 1904. That same year he was appointed Judge of the Federal Court of the Western District of the Indian Territory until 1908. He married Miss Pauline Flersheim of Kansas City, in 1869. They have five children: Jacob; Bruno, (a well known physician here); Nana, (Mrs. M. Berkowitz); Carl, also a physician; and Carrie, (Mrs. L. Broadwin).
