Brief overview:
Louis (39), was shot dead during an armed robbery at the Spar grocery shop in Mnandi, Centurion on 2nd February 2009.
Louis was at a neighborhood watch meeting shortly before the robbery. He and other neighborhood watch members heard the emergency call and drove to the scene. About 100 m from the Spar, some of the robbers who ran away shot at Viljoen and killed him
Yesterday afternoon, a psychologist had to tell two-year-old Suné Viljoen that her father was "gone".
Jacque Viljoen (62), and her husband, Johan (65), rushed from Rustenburg to Centurion when they heard what had happened to their son. "Maritsa (Viljoen's wife) called and said I should pray, because Louis was shot," .

- André Erlank (18) was in the Spar while his father, also André (42), who is in the construction industry, was waiting for him in the bakkie. According to him, there were 12 robbers in the store. - "Wierdabrug police station commissioner, Senior Superintendent Neels Kleynhans, said the men were arrested in the area. The arrests bring the number held to four. Two men were caught less than 2km from the Spar in possession of R4000 in cash and an unlicensed handgun believed to have been used in the attack."

- January 2013: A Thokoza man was today jailed for life by the High Court in Pretoria for murdering a community watch member during a robbery. Mandla Ntuli, 30, received a life sentence and 73 years imprisonment on eight charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, assault and illegal possession of a firearm. All sentences would run concurrently with his life sentence. Passing sentence, Judge Winston Msimeki said Ntuli was part of a gang who had robbed the Mnandi Spar in Centurion in February 2009. The gang maimed people, killed a man and seriously wounded another, he said.
