About Louis, comte de Montafié
https://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00094121&tree=LEO
Assassinated at Aix-en-Provence while in service of King Henry III of France as his lieutenant (See Wikipedia Anne de Montafie).
BIOGRAPHY Louis was born about 1550, the son of Georges II, comte de Montafié, and Blanche Orsini. In 1574 he married Jeanne de Coësmes, dame de Bonnétable et de Lucé, daughter of Louis de Coësmes, baron de Lucé, and Anne Jeanne de Pisseleu. They had a daughter Anne who married Charles de Bourbon, comte de Soissons, and would have progeny, and a daughter Urbaine who did not.
As well as Montafié, Louis was lord of Tilloles and two other estates in Piedmont. He was the lieutenant of King Henri III in Piedmont under the king's half-brother Henri bâtard d'Angoulême, chevalier d'Angoulême. Louis was assassinated at Aix-en-Provence on 6 October 1577 and was buried in Piedmont with his ancestors. The intervention of Henri III and Pope Pius V was needed to ensure that his widow regained the succession to her father's estate of Bonnétable.
