Wife of Rev. Dr. Tillman Dixon Peurifoy. She and her husband had been sent from South Carolina as missionaries to the Florida Indians. While he was away at a meeting their log home was attacked by Indians. The two small children were murdered and the mother was stabbed numerous times and scalped. The house was set on fire.
