She was the daughter of Elisha Billings and his second wife, Mrs. Mary (Storrs) Hovey. She had one full sister, Mary Williams Billings (married Rev. Robert O Dwight, Rev. Myron Winslow) and 3 half siblings through father and his first wife, Elizabeth Williams: Henry Percy (married Emilia Hitchcock), Louisa (died 1782-1795 age 13), Elisha (1785-???). Also had a half brother through Mary Storrs' first marriage to Joseph Hovey: Sylvester (listed in "The Storrs Family" as "A Professor in Amherst College")

[...] "Aunt Louisa" had been an assistant teacher in Mary Lyon's school in Buckland, where her sister Mary and her cousin Juresha Billings had been pupil-teachers.
