Louisa French, probably in Antrim twp., Franklin Co., PA, ca. 1725, m. John Schnebele or Snively, or Shavely in 1743 either in Washington Co. MD, or Franklin Co. PA. After 1769 when he moved to Frederick Co., MD near Hancock and the PA line, he changed his name to Snavely from Snively. They had several children: Catherine Snively, b. 18 Oct 1744; Margaret Anna Snively, b. 29 Jul 1755; Michael Snively, b. 25 Jan 1757; Mary Snively, b. 2 Nov 1758; Christina Snively, b. 14 Nov 1761; Jacob Snively, b. in Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., PA, d. 2 Aug 1802, m. Eva Hays; Barbara Snively, b. in Anrim Twp., d. in Ohio, m. William Jackson; Magdalena Snively; Levvinia Snively; John Snively, b. after 1773 in Washington Co., MD, m. Mary Miller; Elizabeth Snively; Hannah Snively. Louisa’s husband, John Snively, was b. 1720 in Manheim, Lancaster, PA, d. 1791 in Washington Co., MD. John’s father, Jacob Snively (21 Dec 1694-1766) was born in Switzerland. He was the first Mennonite settler in Antrim Township in 1735. He settled on a tract of land between present Greencastle and Shady Grove. He had built a log cabin at what is now the site of a stone mansion built by his son Andrew Snively in 1781.
