I(Linda Lou Bates Bowden) was named for Louisiana Lindsey. My mother took the Lind from Lindsey and the Lou from Louisiana for my name. My mother was reared by Mary , Bolland and Lou Lindsey none of which ever married. They ran a boarding house for the railroad people. Lou Lindsey took the greater part in the rearing of Loree Singletary. Loree came to live with them when she was 7 years of age, after the death of her father and mother, Dan Singletary and Martha Lindsey. Lou Lindsey was living in the home of Loree Singletary and her husband Alvin Bates at the time of her death in 1949. PLAC Dropsey/
