About Loyal Stoyal Nye
He led a fascinating life where he started up the first freighting company in the Far West and who helped open up the famous or infamous Deadwood SD.
The following year after their wedding, Loyal & Leonora took off for Denver CO where they started up the “Nye Forwarding Company” and also the “Stage Mail & Express Company” in Wyoming and Colorado. For a time he had twenty Prairie Schooners which carried freight from the railroad terminals into the Far West.
Loyal & Leonora were extremely entrepreneurial when they invested in the gold mines of the Black Hills of South Dakota, helped open up Deadwood SD with two of his siblings: John A. Nye and Mary (Nye) Case where they owned mines, the Opera Hall, an entire block of commercial buildings, livery stables, among other investments.
Around 1889 they returned East where he was prominent in the NY Stock Market and had a home in Manhattan NY and a summer home in Binghamton NY. They had one child, Edna F. (Nye) Martin, West (1869-1953)
