Abraham Bradley I was born in Guilford, Connecticut, on 13 May 1675, according to the Families of the Wyoming Valley by George Brubaker Kulp. His birth date is given as 15 May 1674 in Brief Sketches of a Few American Bradleys, with Reference to Their English Projenitors.
He was one of seven children of Stephen Bradley and Hannah Smith. Stephen emigrated to New Haven from Bingley, Yorkshire, England, about 1645 with family and settled in Guilford about 1658.
On 13 Jul 1697 in Guilford, Abraham married Jane Leaming, as recorded in "Brief Sketches of a Few American Bradleys" by John C. Bradley, in Kulp's Families of the Wyoming Valley; in Biographical sketches of the graduates of Yale college; and U.S., New England Marriages Prior to 1700.
Abraham was a merchant, according to the The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. He also was a Lieutenant in the Militia from 1714 to 1721, according to Ancestral Records and Portraits: A Compilation from the Archives of Chapter I, Colonial Dames of America.
He married second Abigail Leete about 1719.
