Addison D. Miller was the son of Robert Crawford Miller and wife Levina Louisa Burgess. He was born April 30, 1823 in Lawrence County, Kentucky and died July 9, 1907 in Charlie, Lawrence County, Kentucky.
He married Nancy Ann Salyers on November 3, 1844, in Lawrence County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Isaiah Salyers and Nancy McCarty. They had nine children.
Addison served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company G, 39th Kentucky Infantry, US Army, during the Civil War. He enlisted September 13, 1862 at Peach Orchard, Lawrence County, Kentucky, and mustered in on January 17, 1863. He mustered out on September 15, 1865, and formally resigned his commission in the following November. It is interesting to note that Addison Miller could not sign his name. His letter of resignation is signed with a mark.
Addison left a will dated May 22, 1907, which was probated August 19, 1907. The text of the will is below. He was buried at the Judd-Miller Cemetery, Louisa, Lawrence County, Kentucky.

Now by those present,I,thee A.D.Miller make my will after my death I want my wife Nancy Ann Miller to have full control of everything I now own, have her support and of some and at her death I want my girls which is, Elizabeth Moore, Smantha Thompson,Crilda Thompson & Louisa Hayes to have what house plunder there is left after their monther's death. Then at her death I also want everthing else equally divided such as house and lot, cash and notes among all my children. I also appoint my son, Allen H. Miller as a guardian for his mother and to see over her and to see she has plenty to live on till my pension is restarted back to her and then I want her to live on her pension money and leave the rest of what I now own for the children.
I also give my son Allen H. Miller the right to collect all notes and money which is coming to me after my death and divide it equally among the rest of the children.
All of these things which is mentioned I am to have full control of same as long as I live and as soon as I am dead I want my son Allen H. Miller to take charge of all cash and everything else I own and use and donate it to his mother as she needs it which Allen H.Miller is to pay all debts out of said money if he owes any & keep a correct account of the same.
