Dewitt Clinton Dickson "Dick" Graham was the first born child of James B. Graham and Nancy Tyree (Dickson) Graham. Before the war, Dickson studied law under David Campbell Humphreys and Edward Dorr Tracy. During the civil war, he enlisted as a Lieutenant in Co. D, 4th (Russell's) Alabama Cavalry, Confederate States Army. Russell's 4th Alabama Cavalry was organized at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in December 1862. According to William F. Dukes, Dick Graham was captured during the war, and interned in Camp Douglas, near Chicago, Illinois until the end of the war. He caught consumption and died a couple years after the war. Dickson's grave has an ornate white marble broken in half in such a manner that the date of death is somewhat illegible. The fact of his marker is raised to represent a scroll. It has a wreath in relief at the top.
