Son of Rev. Dr. Mark Hopkins and Mary Hubbell.
Wadhams Genealogy Archibald Hopkins was graduated from Williams College in 1862 with degree of A.B. and from Columbia Law School in 1867 with degree of LL.B. He entered the Union Army as Captain of the 37th Massachusetts Volunteers in 1862 and was brevetted Major and Lieutenant Colonel for gallantry and served to the close of the Civil War.
He was Government officer under the Reconstruction Acts 1865 to 1866; practiced law for a time in New York City and since 1873 has been Clerk of the United States Court of Claims at Washington, D.C.
He is President of the District of Columbia Sons of the Revolution; member of the Geographic Society of the Historical Society, the American Social Science Association and other societies at Washington. Is an author. Residence, Washington, D.C. and Williamstown, Massachusetts.
