About Lt. Col. Johnson Harmon

Biography

Lt. Col. Johnson Harmon was born circa 1681 in Saco, York County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. His parents were John Harmon and Deborah (Johnson) Harmon.

Johnson married Mary (Moulton) Harmon in 1702. Together they had the following children: Mary Harmon; Miriam (Harmon) Stover; Johnson Harmon, Jr., Indian Fighter; Joseph Harmon; Hannah Harmon; Martha Harmon; Zebulon Harmon, Ens, Indian Fighter; Pricilla Harmon.

He died on April 17, 1751 in Merriconeag Neck, Harpswell, York County, Province of Massachusetts.



He was a noted Indian fighter. In 1722 he was a Captain in two expeditions against the Norridgewocks. In 1707 he was present, with his brother John, at Winter Harbor when B. Donnell was killed by Indians. On 8 October 1710 he was taken captive by Indians at Winter Harbor. He was still in Canada on 26 March 1711. In 1724 he was commissioned a Lieutenant Colonel for service in expeditions against Norridgewocks. He served as Representative in 1727, and also as Peace Commissioner at Falmouth.
