Peyton, Valentine, son of Henry Peyton of Lincoln's Inn, Middlesex county, England, a royalist, was baptized in St. Dunstan's Church, West End, London, July 31, 1627, and came to Virginia about 1650. he was lieutenant-colonel of the Westmoreland county militia and one of the justices of the court. He died in 1665. His wife who was Frances Gerard, daughter of Thomas Gerard, married (first) Colonel Thomas Speke; (second) Valentine Peyton; (third) Captain John Appleton; (fourth) Colonel John Washington. Colonel Valentine PeytonB-5 Col Valentine Peyton was a Gentleman. He was educated Trinity College C. 1647. He was trained in the English Royal Army c. 1648; he immigrated from England to Virginia 1652. Later that year he received his 1st land grant of 1,000 acres on a branch of the Aquia River for transporting 20 indentured servants to Virginia. He later patented and purchased another 4,000 acres in Westmoreland County, Va. He was a Member of the House of Burgesses c. 1660. He served as Lt. Col. of the Westmoreland Militia c. 1662. In 1663 he was an attorney. He died in 1665-His estate was probated Will dated 27 Nov 1662.

Captain William King, son of Robert King and Hannah Scarborough, was the first of the name whom we find in the records of Stafford County, Va., as settling there permanently. He married Martha Richardson of Middlesex County, Va. He was a captain of militia in that county. After her death he married Judith Peyton, daughter of Valentine Peyton and Frances Gerrard. Col Valentine Peyton, born in England in 1629 a son of Henry Peyton and Katherine Bathman, came to Virginia about 1654 and settled in Westmoreland County where his estate was known as "Nominy." He was descended from the Peytons of Isleham, in Cambridgeshire, England. He married in 1660, Frances, daughter of Dr. Thomas Gerrard and his wife Susanna Snow, (widow of Col. Thomas Spake), of Maryland and Virginia. Captain William King died in Stafford County, Va., in 1716, leaving a will in which he named his children as follows: Elizabeth, Sarah, Jane, Margaret, William Alfred, Thomas and John.
