Lt. Hope Brigdon SCOTT C.S.A. was born in c 1827-1829 to Nathaniel SCOTT, "Naty" (about 1794-1868), & Mary Ann BRANNEN, "Polly" (about 1796-1867). He was a grandson of James SCOTT Sr. & his first wife, Sarah BRUNSON.
Hope SCOTT died on the 5th of March, 1863, in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, and is thought to be buried there as well.
C.S.A. Service Record: Screven Co GA "Black Creek Volunteers" 1st Company B 25th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry - Hope B. SCOTT enlisted as a Private on the 10th of August, 1861, enrolled in Savannah by Col. ROCKWELL. He was appointed Corporal. The roll of the 31st of October, 1862, reported him to have been discharged by civil authority. He was relieved from duty by the Conscript Act of the 16th of August, 1862. The roll of the Bartow Avengers on 11 Jan 1862 includes 3rd Lt Hope B. SCOTT. He took pneumonia and died on the 5th of March, 1863, in a Savannah Hospital. For Mary Ann GRINER SCOTT's widow's pension application in 1891, Captain Joseph W. BRYAN, Causey OVERSTREET and J. C. OVERSTREET: Hope SCOTT "was taken sick from exposure while performing his duties as a soldier in the army, his sickness being the direct result of his service in the army and died from such sickness in camps near Savannah Ga. about the first of March, 1863." _______
Hope served in Civil War - Private,3rd Company G, 25th Georgia Infantry, Black Creek Volunteers. Transferred to GA Signal Corps and promoted to 3rd Lieutenant. "Taken sick bu exposure while performing his duties as a soldier in the army, his sickness being the direct result of his service in the army and deid from such sickness in camp near Savannh, GA about the first of March 1863" (Per Captain Joseph W. Bryan, Causey Overstreet and J. C. Overstreet for widow's pension in 1891.) Rodney Scott says he is buried somewhere " along Victory Drive
