Isaac Buck, Lieutenant

  • Death: before Mar 8 1696 - Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, Will Proved
  • Parents: possibly Edmund Buck (also seen as William Buck)

From the History of Scituate:

"Lieutenant Isaack Buck was in Scituate before 1647. He was town clerk from 1665 to 1695.....He was a very useful man, often engaged in public business. He was lieutenant in the Philip's War and repulsed the Indians with great bravery from Scituate, in March 1676. He died intestate in 1695."....

"Lieut. Isaac BUCK, Blacksmith was a brother of John, and was in Scituate before 1647. He purchased the house of Jeremiah BURROUGHS, which had been that of Resolved WHITE at Belle house neck. In 1660, he built a house near the Harbour, on the Buck field, so called even now

The children of of Isaack and Frances Buck were Thomas, James, Joseph, Jonathan, Benjamin, Elizabeth, who married Robert Whitcombe; Mehitable, who married Stephen Chittenden, November 5th, 1679; Ruth, who married Joseph Garrett, January 17th, 1676; Deborah, who married Henry Merrit; Isaack and John.

Isaac is taken to be another son of William Buck, although this cannot be proved from available evidence.

Isaac Buck, age 33, sailed on AMITIE, 13 OCT 1635. If this is correct, William, his father would have been only abt. 17 yrs. old when Isaac was b. Another reference dates his sailing at 1638, which would look more reasonable.
