About Lt. John Bradford

Left behind while parents left on the Mayflower (3-4years of age) to be sent for later when it was safe and settled for a child to join the parents. Mother died/drowned while in route to America and John was raised by his Uncle Robert.

______________________ John was the son of Gov. William Bradford and his first wife Dorothea May. He was about five years old when his parents left him in Europe to embark on the Mayflower voyage. His mother died by drowning in Cape Cod Harbor, never having set foot on American soil. John eventually joined his father in America.

John, in Duxbury 1645-52, Marshfield 1653, removed to Norwich, CT.164

John left in Holland with grandfather May. Arrived 1627. In Duxbury 1645; Marshfield 1653. Lt Dep to Gen Ct Norwich 1652. Gave house and home lot to nephew, Thomas. No known issue.


Don’t think this is accurate:

John Bradford marries Martha Bourne as his second wife at the age of 26 years. (He has children from his 1st wife that Martha helps to raise.) She then marries a second time to Thomas Tracey; she died between 1678 and 1685. SOURCE: findagrave member ##48319810
