About Lt. William Byrd Randolph
William Randolph served in the American Revolutionary War as Wagoner, Corporal and Lieutenant, for which service was granted 4,000 acres in Kentucky.
He married Louisa Bailey, who later moved to Surry County North Carolina where he acquired a large tract known as "Bailey's Bottom".
In 1809 William Randolph came to Roane County Tennessee where he purchased from John Randolph, his brother, a farm on which the former lived until after the death of his first wife.
The had seven children who were:

7) Rebecca
Then he moved to Surry county North Carolina and married Dorothy Bailey Poindexter (his sister-in-law).
He is the son of Henry Randolph and Tabitha Poythress. He married Miriam Ann Eppes in 1765 in Virginia

- GENERAL INFORMATION: William Randolph, the second son of Henry Randolph IV and Tabitha (Poythress), was married circa 1764 to Miriam Eppes, daughter of Maj. Edmond Eppes and Henrietta Marie (Hardiman). Ten children were born to this union; Nathanial 1765-1829, Peyton Oct 1766-1852 Elizabeth Orpha Jan 1769- after 1840, ISHAM 1771-circa 1824, Henry 29 Dec 1773-1836, Mahala (Susan) 26 Mar 1778-1845, Tabitha b.1784, Sarah b.1785, Edmond 1784-1784, Miriam (Myra) Jan 1785-1863. - GENERAL INFORMATION: William was appointed guardian of Grief Randolph's children. Grief's wife, Mary, was Miriam's sister.
- MILITARY: On the fifth of December, 1776, William Randolph was commissioned captain in the Chesterfield County Militia. (Rev War) On the sixth of August, 1779, he resigned his commission as captain of militia.
- LAND RECORDS: William Randolph was involved in a number of real estate transactions. Some of these were disputed. In 1779 he was named in a chancery suit brought by his brother, John, who claimed that William was trying to sell property that was adjacent to his but not legally his to sell. William claimed that this was all part of the Rich Neck bequest. William Lost. He was named in a number of other suits brought by various family members and inevitably, he lost.
- GENERAL INFORMATION:: Prior to August, 1783 William and his family moved to Sullivan County, North Carolina (became Tennessee in 1796). There is a suggestion that this move may have been influenced by all the litigation as at least two suits were dismissed because he had left the state.
