About Lubbert Gerritsz Yserman
Lubbert Gerritsz (official family name Yserman), a Dutch Mennonite leader in the second half of the 16th century, characterized by his tolerance, the good friend and co-worker of Hans de Ries, with whom he composed the Waterlander confession of faith which was published at Alkmaar in 1610. He was born at Amersfoort, Dutch province of Utrecht, in 1534; by trade he was a weaver. About 1556 he was converted to the Mennonite principles and soon played a role in the small Amersfoort congregation.
