We have not found a grave marker for Lucenia. She was known to have lived the for about 20 years in LaBette, Kansas, near Parsons, Kansas, area until her husband died. After his death she lived for periods of time in Parsons [possibly actually LaBette], and in Colorado and Arkansas, where some of her children were living.

The Civil War pension file of her husband clearly identifies her as the Lucenia Owens who was from Marshall Co., Indiana before moving to Kansas around 1870 and who appears indexed by Ancestry as Levina Owens on the 1850 census listed immediately after her sister Denica [as Denicy] Finney [as Phinny] and as Lucina Owens on the 1860 census one page after her sister Denica [as Nicy] Finney [indexed as Dumey but written as Phinney], both in Marshall Co., Indiana.

The Civil War pension file reports Lucinia's maiden name and birthplace and date. We note here that the family was known to have lived in the part of Pendleton County that became Grant County, Kentucky, around 1820. Therefore she probably was born in what is not Grant County. A book on the Hawkins family by her nephew, Zed T. Hawkins, refers to her as Cena Hawkins, clearly her nickname.

It is not clear where she died. She probably died in LaBette Co., Kansas but may have died in Sebastian Co., Arkansas, where a daughter, Lucenia (Owens) Kirkham and husband Moses Kirkham were living in 1890. The death date is based on papers filed in her husband's pension file including applications for increases and the notice dated 31 August 1899 that, "Lucenia Owens... who was a pensioner... and who was last paid [on] May 4, 1899, has been dropped as a pensioner because of her death." The actual date of death was not given
