Mrs. Lucile (Roberts) Deal
STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Lucile Roberts Deal, age 93, died on November 6, 2010, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. Mrs. Deal was a 1934 graduate of Portal High School. She was a member of the Westside Homemakers Club and loved to cook, knit, crochet and made beautiful quilts for everyone in her family. Mrs. Deal's specialty dishes were her 14-layer chocolate cake, stewed tomatoes, thin cornbread, apple tarts, fried salt pork bacon and sugar cookies. She loved to pass time sitting outside, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Deal was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emit C. Deal; a daughter-in-law, Ginger Deal; and a grandson, Patrick Peaster.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby E. Deal of Statesboro, Johnny and Dale Deal of Statesboro, Emit Bunny Deal of Statesboro, Larry and Bonnie Deal of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam Deal and George Blanchette of Statesboro; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Major J.W. and Blanche Roberts of Statesboro; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Roberts Cowan of Statesboro.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Scott and Elder Jack Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459; to Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, c/o James Deal, 210 Jonathan Road, Statesboro, GA 30458; or to Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Obed Minick, 1529 Metts Road, Statesboro, GA 30461.
