About Lucille Johanna Loecken

Lucille "Lu" Loecken, age 80, of Melrose, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vincent Lieser will officiate, with burial following in the parish cemetery.

Lucille Johanna Loecken was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, to Herman and Margaret (Buschmann) Hinnenkamp. She was united in marriage to Alphonse Loecken on June 28, 1937 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple lived in Greenwald for 12 years, and then in Elrosa until 1949 when they moved to Melrose.

Lu was employed by Melrose Produce for four years and then by the Melrose Area Hospital for seven years. She started working at Kraft Foods in Melrose in 1967, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, the St. Elizabeth's Society, the Christian Mothers, the Melrose VFW Auxiliary, the Melrose Area Historical Society and the Melrose Chapter of Al-Anon. Lu was also involved in many area charities.

Lucille is survived by her children, Chuck Loecken and Angie, of St. Joseph; Jerry Loecken and JoAnn, of Delano; Ron Loecken and Nancy, of Forest Lake; Jim Loecken and Mary, of Melrose; Shirley Adrian and John, of Freeport; Nettie Spaeth and Paul, of Melrose; Rosie Breth, of Rogers and Susie Isaacson and Jerry, of Anoka; brothers and sisters, Sally Wieber, of St. Cloud; Walter Hinnenkamp, of Melrose; Hiltz Knops, of Chino Valley, Arizona; Luella Williams, of Prescot Valley, Arizona; Arthur Hinnenkamp and Luella, of Brooklyn Center; Herman Hinnenkamp, of Melrose; Margie Eiynck and Shorty, of Chino Valley, Ariz.; Virginia Caspers and Ray, of Chula Vista, Calif.; Bill Hinnenkamp and Donna, of Meire Grove; and Harold Hinnenkamp and Carol, of Annandale; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Lu was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Margaret Hinnenkamp; husband Al Loecken, who died December 12, 1992; and brother, Erwin Hinnenkamp.

Casket bearers will be Lisa, Ross and Bryan Loecken, Rick Spaeth, Robin Breth-Dallman and Nate Johnson. Cross bearer will be Fe Buschmann and scripture bearer will be Raechel Loecken. Members of the Melrose Chapter of Al-Anon will serve as honorary bearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the St. Michael's Hospice of Sauk Centre.
