Biography ==Lucissa Green was born on February 9, 1807 in York County, South Carolina, United States, the daughter of Jacob Green and Frances S. (Acre) Green. She was the sister of Joseph N. Greene.==
Lucissa married William Jenkins Whisenant. He was the Postmaster at Ten Islands during the Civil War and part of the administration of the Confederacy. They had at least the following children:

1. Green Franklin Whisenant b. 9 Apr 1827, d. 20 Mar 1889.
2. Nancy Catherine Whisenant b. c 1828, d. b 1852.
3. John Dill Whisenant b. 15 Feb 1834, d. 11 Apr 1899.
4. Jacob William Whisenant b. 2 Apr 1835, d. 9 Oct 1915.
5. Joseph Lafayette M. Whisenant b. c 1839, d. 10 Nov 1895.
6. Fanny Acre Whisenant b. 13 Jan 1842, d. 12 Dec 1884.
7. Ross Wood Whisenant b. 12 Aug 1845, d. 6 Sep 1901.

Lucissa died on October 7, 1889 in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States and was buried at Hopewell Cemetery in Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama, USA<ref>Find A Grave.</ref><ref>Irish Eyes.</ref>
